2 Pack! Big Red Detailed Baseball/Softball Scorebook - 11 Player Version

Choosing The Right Baseball Bat For You

This years' baseball season is here and parents I understand how you feel. It almost as if you're buying a new baseball bat every year, especially if you have younger kids playing that are literally growing right out of their equipment right before your eyes. When it comes to purchasing a new baseball bat though, it can really wear on you when it comes time to pull out your wallet. It's understandable; these aluminum baseball bats nowadays are very pricey. It then becomes that much more important to choose the right baseball bat.

How do you know you have covered all of these points? By doing some research and perhaps a little 'trial and error,' you will find the best bat to buy. See if your child can ask a teammate to swing their bat a few times to see what an appropriate size is. If they can somehow actually hit with it a few times, that's even better. Try and notice how much 'pop' some of your top choices are when others are using them. Obviously if a particular bat works for one person, it doesn't guarantee the same results for the next person. It is just another way of getting an idea. You can certainly ask around or look for sources offering baseball bat reviews that will discuss the components of the bats and give reviews about the durability and expected performance. Most websites with reviews will have Louisville Slugger, Demarini, Rawlings, and Easton baseball bat reviews because they are the more common bat makers.

Baseball's Greatest Hits

It would be impossible to capture all the things that make the game great--the drama, the humor, the roar of the crowd--on one album, but the folks behind this sprawling collection come pretty darn close to hitting for the cycle. Old-time faves like Les Brown's "Joltin' Joe DiMaggio" segue into modern tributes such as Bill Slayback's "Move Over Babe, Here Comes Henry," while such tangential yet groovy chestnuts like the Intruders' soul standard "Love Is Like a Baseball Game" and Rockin' Richie Ray's utterly unhinged "Baseball Card Lover" are guaranteed to make even nonfans cock an ear. Interspersed among the songs are spoken interludes, ranging from classic comedy bits like Abbott & Costello's "Who's on First" to moving memories such as Lou Gehrig's famed farewell speech. Baseball's Greatest Hits is a one-of-a-kind collection. --David Sprague
Customer Review: For Baseball Lovers
This is a great cd for anyone who is a true baseball fan, whatever team, whatever era.
Customer Review: Take me out to the ballgame!
I had hoped that the rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" would have been recorded with a baseball stadium organ and maybe even with the crowd singing along. The guitar version was cute but not in the "ballpark" of reality.

How to Overcome a Sports Injury?

Sheehan claims, It was tough because I was a senior and all of my friends were going away to college and I was stuck at home. But I just kept working hard as I knew I couldnt be done with baseball.

He then goes on in his second year to have an ERA of 1.8 and finished 6 and 2 while both losses were the results of unearned runs. He earned all conference honors and then he began to get looked at by larger colleges. With interest from a number of larger colleges he really felt the need to go to a smaller school so he could get the starts and innings he needed to continue to improve. He decided on Centenary as they offered him and 80% baseball scholarship. Baseball scholarships are normally only given in fractional percentages like this even for the best of players. The colleges are so limited on the number of baseball scholarships that they are forced to divide the total amount among players.

Sheehan was a 2003 graduate that spent his freshmen year at Johnson Community College rehabbing his arm. It allowed him to get a jump on the classroom while building back the strength in his arm. Then he joined Cowley College, a small school in Arkansas City, Kansas on a baseball scholarship and reclaimed his career. He only went an undefeated seven and zero with a 3.4 ERA.

It has been an interesting road for pitcher Jeremy Sheehan. Going from a high school pitcher that had to endure the customary career ending Tommy John surgery to baseball scholarships and now becoming the Ace of his college team. He attributes the injury to motivating him to work hard enough to improve his strength and increase his speed enough to get a baseball scholarship.
